In addition to its scenic beauty, the region is also famous for its ancient customs and traditions, which are still practised here. This regional cultural autonomy has earned the region the sobriquet "the tenth federal state of Austria."

Take advantage of the many options for excursions: the Dachstein mountain with its ice caves on the Krippenstein, the Gosausee lake, Hallstatt with the salt mines, the imperial town of Bad Ischl, Bad Aussee and Altaussee. But also the Mondsee, Traunsee and Attersee lakes are great for a short tour.
